It looks like Dan Haren's problems are behind him – but in a good way now. Haren returned from his first trip to the DL of his career and pitched six strong innings as the Angels beat the Texas Rangers, 7-4, on Sunday, taking two of three from the first-place Rangers in the series and finishing the weekend closer than they started it (five games back in the AL West).
As important as the one game gained in the standings, though, was Haren's apparent return to form after a first half spent pitching through back pain – a noble effort that might have been misguided considering the results he got. Earlier in the week, Haren expressed a determination to remind everyone that "I've been a really good pitcher for eight or nine years. I've had a couple bad months, pitched through some stuff. I think people kind of forget how good I can be."
