Lowe Gets Save in Yankees Debut

Monday marked the first of two starts CC Sabathia will miss during his stay on the disabled list. So far, so good.

David Phelps gave the Yankees five solid innings, while Nick Swisher provided the punch with a grand slam off Ryan Dempster to pace an 8-2 thrashing of the Rangers.

The win was the Yankees’ fifth in the last six games, kicking off their crucial four-game set against the two-time defending American League champions on a high note.

Derek Lowe backed up Phelps with four shutout frames in his pinstriped debut, picking up his first save since 2001.
