Garcia to Skip Boston Tournament

He could win for a second straight week, but Sergio Garcia has let it be known that it definitely won’t be three in a row. That’s because he has decided to skip next week’s second playoff event, the Deutsche Bank Championship outside of Boston.

No surprise, he cited a need for rest.

“Everybody knows how important the Ryder Cup is for me and I want to be fully fit there,” Garcia told PGA Tour officials after shooting 3-under 68 to get into a share of the second-round lead with Nick Watney at The Barclays. “I need to take a week off somewhere.”
