Top Jays Prospect Banned for Stimulant

NEW YORK — Marcus Stroman, regarded as one of the Toronto Blue Jays’ top pitching prospects who spent part of this season with the Vancouver Canadians, has been suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball for using a banned stimulant.

A supplementary first-round pick in the June draft, the right-hander out of Duke University purchased an over-the-counter training supplement containing the substance at a chain store, said assistant general manager Tony LaCava, who is in New York with the club.
