Irish: From Unranked to BCS Title Game

LOS ANGELES -- There has always been a sense of destiny about this Notre Dame team.

This Irish, who were unranked in the initial AP poll and under appreciated for most of the season, are back on top of college football after defeating USC, 22-13, Saturday night at a sell out crowd of 93,607 at the Coliseum to complete a perfect 12-0 regular season.

The Irish, who will be ranked No. 1 for a second straight week when the BCS standings are announced Sunday night, secured their place in the national championship game with the victory over their storied rival. Their opponent will the winner of the SEC championship game between Alabama or Georgia.
