49ers' Sackmaster Has Shot at History

Fred Dean once spent his Sundays chasing down quarterbacks. He plopped them on the ground with efficiency, first for the San Diego Chargers and later for the 49ers.

Dean also is realistic enough to know that a premier pass rusher, such as 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith, can make a bigger impact in today's pass-happy NFL than Dean did in his era.
