MEMPHIS, TENN. — It's rare that an NBA game in December can hold significant influence for the playoffs in April, but the Nuggets and Grizzlies played such a game Saturday night.
At stake this early in the season: a tiebreaker.
The Nuggets had already won their first two games this season against Memphis. A third win meant that if the teams were tied in the standings at the end of the regular season, the Nuggets would get the higher seed.
They did not get it.
