There was an entire movement on his behalf, featuring “Free Sean Payton” T-shirts, a petition and song. Payton defied orders from his boss to stop the Saints’ bounty program. Now Tom Benson has made him the highest paid coach in NFL history.
Sheesh. What would Payton have gotten if he hadn’t personally flushed the entire Saints’ season down the toilet?
