Legendary De La Salle High School football coach Bob Ladouceur made it official Friday - he's stepping away as varsity coach.
But he's not stepping too far away.
One win from 400 victories, California's winningest coach said it "was just the right time," not only for him but his successor, Justin Alumbaugh, who was introduced as well at the 75-minute press conference in the school's theater.
Ladouceur will remain on campus as a religion teacher and help out with the football team in a much lesser role: help with position players, give advice and be on the sidelines on Friday night. He'll also be right across the desk from Alumbaugh, whom Ladouceur coached and mentored in the late 1990s.
