It was no secret what kind of head coach the Arizona Cardinals wanted before they decided to hire Bruce Arians away from Indianapolis on Thursday.
Before the former Colts offensive coordinator took their offer, the Cardinals also looked at other playoff play-callers who did good work with young quarterbacks.
Through that line of interviewing, it’s no surprise then, that Arians, fresh from mentoring rookie first-overall pick Andrew Luck and acing a 12-game interim coaching stint, was the Cardinals’ choice. Now comes the hard part of finding another strong-armed, athletic franchise passer to help him win a lot more games. Before Arians worked with Luck, he collaborated with Ben Roethlisberger to help the Steelers win a Super Bowl against the Cardinals.
