McIlroy Skidding After Shifting Gear

Let’s take Rory McIlroy at his word, for now.

Let’s believe him, for now, when he insists that his lousy start to this year’s professional golf season — a missed cut in Abu Dhabi and a loss in the first round of last week’s match-play event in the Arizona desert — is a matter of swing errors, not an equipment change.

Let’s give him the benefit of every doubt on the matter, for now, because it really is a small sample size when it comes to studying his playing performance after making the switch from Titleist to Nike.
