NFL Players Make Lots of Money

USA Today released the 2007 salaries for every NFL player today, and you might be surprised to see who’s at the top. Here’s a hint: he’s scored exactly one touchdown in his NFL career.

If you guessed Colts’ defensive end Dwight Freeney, then you’re a big winner. The 2002 1st-round draft pick will earn an ARod-like $30.75 million this season. In second place, over $13-million behind Freeney, is Rams’ quarterback Marc Bulger.

To put those numbers in a different perspective, Freeney made $3,416,666.67 per game this year (he’s out for the rest of the season with a broken foot), and Bulger has banked $2,917,006.67 for every touchdown he’s thrown. Yep, all six of them.
