What To Watch: Monday

by Robbie Gillies

7pm- ESPN2 – New Mexico State @ Duke – Check out Duke’s freshmen class of Taylor King, Kyle Singler, and Nolan Smith. Taylor King became just the fourth Blue Devil to score 20 points in their debut.

7pm- ESPNU – Siena @ Syracuse – Upset alert. Siena returns 3 starters from a team that went 20-12 last season and barely missed the NCAA Tournament. Syracuse will likely start two highly-touted freshmen in Jonny Flynn and Donte' Greene. Flynn and Green were named preseason Big East Co-Rookies Of The Year by the Big East coaches.

7:30pm – Versus – Hurricanes @ Panthers – Wait, so it’s the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers? You sure it’s not the Carolina Panthers? This Carolina team is much more exciting to watch anyway. The Hurricanes lead the NHL in goals per game at 3.76.

8:30pm – ESPN – 49ers @ SeahawksThe 49ers will be a much improved team this year. Frank Gore will continue what he did last year, Alex Smith will live up to his #1 draft pick, and with weapons like Vernon Davis and newly acquired wide receiver Darrell Jackson should provide the targets to get this offense going. That type of logic seemed to make sense 3 months ago. The saddest thing about this game is that even with a loss the Seahawks would still be tied for the division lead at 4-5. Hmm, is that the saddest thing, or is it that with a win, the 49ers would be just one game out of the division lead? Yeah, that’s more sad.
