Motor City Bowl
Dec. 26, 7:30pm
Teams: Purdue Boilermakers (7-5) vs. Central Michigan Chippewas (8-5)
Betting Line: Purdue is favored by 7.5 points.
Brief History: The Motor City Bowl usually pits the winner of the MAC against a Big Ten team. The game is sponsored by the big three automakers: Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler. Last season Central Michigan beat Middle Tennessee 31-14.
Fun Fact: Detroit is the potato chip capitol of the world, based on consumption.
Notable Schwag for the Players: Timely Watch Co. watch; Mercury Luggage leather duffel bag. Man, I think that's the lamest schwag of any bowl.
Preview: The player to watch is Central Michigan's QB Dan LeFevour. He has 3,360 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns, and 1,008 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. Only Vince Young has thrown for over 3,000 yards and rushed for over 1,000 yards in a single college football season. Not even Tim Tebow put up those type of numbers. But, these two teams already met earlier this year with Purdue winning 45-22 in a game in which Purdue led 38-0. Though, Purdue lost three in a row at the end of the regular season and Central Michigan has won four of their past five games.
