New Mexico Bowl
Dec. 22, 4:30pm
University of New Mexico's University Stadium
Teams: New Mexico Lobos (8-4) vs. Nevada Wolf Pack (6-6)
Betting Line: New Mexico favored by 2.5
Brief History: Again, just the second edition of this bowl game. Last year, San Jose defeated New Mexico, 20-12 (wow, bet that game was awful).
Fun Fact: The game trophy is 20-inch piece of Zia Pueblo pottery, painted with Pueblo symbols, the New Mexico Bowl logo, and football players. Also, the MVP trophies are crafted from traditional leather shields
Notable Schwag for the Players: Oakley watch and Thump sunglasses, Under Armour backpack and Under Armour beanie.
Preview: If you watch this one (come on, you have something better to do?), expect to see a rather noticeable rooting section for New Mexico. Not only is it being played on their home field, but as of Thursday, Nevada had only sold 95 of its alloted 6,000 tickets. The Lobos will be playing without starting tailback Rodney Ferguson, their leading rusher, after he was ruled academically ineligible this week.
