Bowl Preview: Sheraton Hawaii Bowl

by Robbie Gillies

Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl

Date: Dec. 23, 8:00pm
Site: Honolulu, HI
Stadium: Aloha Stadium

Teams: #24 Boise State Broncos (10-2) vs. East Carolina Pirates (7-5)

Betting Line: BSU favored by 10.5

Brief History: Hawaii is guaranteed a bid to the bowl, unless they qualify for the BCS - which they did. In 2006, the PAC-10 replaced C-USA as the WAC's opposition. The game is usually played on Christmas Eve, but was moved to avoid a conflict with Monday Night Football.

Fun Fact: Hawaii is the only US state that grows coffee.

Notable Schwag for the Players: Oakley watch; Oakley sunglasses; Oakley backpack, luggage tags; Aloha shirt (It means both hello AND goodbye - crazy right?).

Preview: Here is what BSU's head coach Chris Petersen said of playing in Hawaii: "I tell you what, if you're not going to be in a BCS game, I don't know if there's a better place in the country to be. I think half our team is on surfboards right now and hopefully staying safe." Sounds like the Broncos are ready to play!
