Pay Homage to Gamblor - Week 14

by Jeff Briggs
“ The only monster here is the gambling monster that has enslaved your mother! I call him Gamblor, and it's time to snatch your mother from his neon claws!” --Homer Simpson
Last Week: 5-10 (somehow I didn’t pick the Rams game), Season: 31-42-2. I didn’t hit my lock, but I’m in protest, because I’m pretty sure Kellen Winslow got pushed out at the end of that Browns game. My thought is that too many teams are really bad, making it hard to pick games. Hoping for redemption, home team in CAPS.

Bears (+3) over REDSKINS

All the Skins have to do to win this game is not kick to Hester. Looking at the rest of the season, I bet they find a way to mess this up. If they can’t manage to know the rules about calling time outs, they probably don’t know the “don’t kick the ball to Hester” rule.

JAGUARS (-10.5) over Panthers
Carolina fans are probably feeling pretty good about themselves after last week. They will quickly realize that playing a football team with talented players and educated coaches is harder than playing the 49ers. It’s the lock of the week.

Cowboys (-10.5) over LIONS
The Lions are spiraling out of control. It’s the reverse of the Barry Sanders Lions who were bad until Thanksgiving and then played well.

EAGLES (-3) over Giants
Eagles are due for a win after two hard losses. Giants are due for a loss after drafting Eli Manning.

PATRIOTS (-11) over Steelers
Steelers safety Anthony Smith guaranteed victory for the Steelers this week. Rodney Harrison’s response, "Never heard of him." Maybe the Pats are done winning big this season, but I doubt it.

TITANS (-1) over Chargers
This line is different in every spot I’ve looked. Translation, no one has any idea what to expect from either of these teams, so I say go with the home team.

BILLS (-7) over Dolphins
After last week I’m ready to believe that this year’s Dolphins could be the worst team of all time. Then again, I’m ready to believe that about this year’s Falcons and 49ers as well.

SEAHAWKS (-7) over Cardinals
Seahawks have been winning on the road the last couple of weeks. At home it should be a breeze.

BRONCOS (-7) over Chiefs
The Chiefs have lost five straight. They are bad enough that I’m picking them to lose by more than 7 to a team that lost handily to the Raiders last week.

Colts (-9.5) over RAVENS
No way the Ravens can play that well two weeks in a row.

Saints (-4) over FALCONS
Monday Night Football lucked out with a good game last week. Don’t expect it to become a trend.

Vikings (-8.5) over 49ERS
Browns (-3.5) over JETS
PACKERS (-10.5) over Raiders
Rams (+6.5) over BENGALS
Bucs (-3) over TEXANS
