Teams: Bowling Green Falcons (8-4) vs. Tulsa Golden Hurricane (9-4)
Betting Line: Bowling Green is favored by 5 points.
Brief History: The 2001 GMAC Bowl set the record for highest scoring bowl game. Marshall defeated East Carolina 64-61 in double overtime. Byron Leftwich threw for 576 yards to lead the Thundering Herd.
Fun Fact: It's the second to last bowl game - I still couldn't tell you why that is.
Notable Schwag for the Players: Sony head phones; Timely Watch Co. watch; Mercury Luggage rolling: and a duffel bag. Shouldn't they get the luggage BEFORE they go to the bowl?
Preview: Sure, it's the GMAC Bowl pitting two teams you've probably never seen play (quick, what state is Bowling Green located in?), but this could make for a very entertaining game. Tulsa has the number one total offense in the nation averaging 542 total yards per game and both teams average over 30 points per game. The over/under on this game is 76 points - perhaps they will beat the old bowl record of 125 points scored in this very same bowl in 2001.
Senior is led by QB Paul Smith who was second in the nation passing yards. Smith passed for 4,753 yards and 42 touchdowns. On the ground, Tarrion Adams leads the way having rushed for 1,113 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Bowling Green has many offensive weapons. They had four running backs that scored touchdowns and ten players that had receiving touchdowns, including QB Tyler Sheehan who had 2 receiving touchdowns.
Green is located in Ohio for those who were still wondering.
