Tough Guy

by Ryan Hudson

If you are reading this, then that means our fearless leader here at RealClearSports, Jeff Pyatt, is somewhere on the other side of the Atlantic. But, Pyatt (meh!) is not on the trip of a typical American twenty-something, backpacking across Europe and staying in hostels and just FREAKING OUT, MAN! in Amsterdam. No, no. Pyatt's quest is far stupider.

On Sunday, Pyatt will be participating, competing, failing at Tough Guy.

What is Tough Guy?

Tough Guy consists of an "eight country mile" run followed by a very muddy, very cold assault course which includes such obstacles as crawling under barbed wire, running over burning bales of hay, swimming in underwater tunnels and crawling through underground pipes.

So, a nice jog in a field? Um...according to the official website, not exactly:

We have searched the world amongst military and security forces to find any unit with a more demanding ONE DAY survival training ordeal. The US Navy S.E.A.L.S. 'Grinder' Assault Course is our nearest rival.

Here's a little video of what's ahead for Pyatt:

But, don't worry, Pyatt's been training:

OK, so this video is 10 months old, but still, to go from running a 6:38 mile (he did it!) to doing the Tough Man Competition...only Pyatt. But, don't worry - he's been eating like 12 eggs a day...so he's good to go!
