The Cubs Invite You To Wear An Onion On Your Belt

by Jeff Briggs

On June 12, it will be 1948 at Wrigley Field. In addition to throw back uniforms, "Fans attending this special game are encouraged to participate by dressing in 1948-style attire and will experience what a game at Wrigley Field was like in that era." They will also have special deals on hot dogs and sodas.

I encourage everyone in the Chicago area to attend and take this way over the top. For guidance turn to any of 'Grandpa' Abe Simpson's long-winded stories, tie an onion to your belt, and endlessly ramble on about nothing to any cubs employee who will listen to you.

"So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say."
