On June 12, it will be 1948 at Wrigley Field. In addition to throw back uniforms, "Fans attending this special game are encouraged to participate by dressing in 1948-style attire and will experience what a game at Wrigley Field was like in that era." They will also have special deals on hot dogs and sodas.
I encourage everyone in the Chicago area to attend and take this way over the top. For guidance turn to any of 'Grandpa' Abe Simpson's long-winded stories, tie an onion to your belt, and endlessly ramble on about nothing to any cubs employee who will listen to you.
"So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say." |
