Duke Football Cleans Up Their Act

by Robbie Gillies

In the past four years, the Duke football team has a cumulative record of 4-42, including going 0-12 in 2006. Duke football is so bad...How bad is it? It's so bad a judge ruled that they are basically the worst team in college football. The University of Louisville tried to sue Duke for breach of contract because they backed out of a series of games against the Cardinals. But, the judge ruled against Louisville saying in his summary, "Duke persuasively asserted that this is a threshold that could not be any lower. Duke’s argument on this point cannot be reasonably disputed by Louisville.” Basically, you can't get any worse than Duke, so finding a replacement for those games should be no problem.

Duke fired head coach Ted Roof in late-November and hired former Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutliffe in mid-December. Obviously, Cutliffe has his hands full, but while he can't exactly clean house with the current players, he is having them clean the campus. Cutliffe had the players take part in a campus cleanup on Tuesday. Over 70 team members and coaches filled over 60 garbage bags full of trash. Now Cutliffe has the unenviable task of cleaning up the trash on the field...
