Apparently, Packers President Mark Murphy offered Brett Favre $20 million to remain retired. Murphy flew to Mississippi to meet with Favre in person to try and get a handle on this mess, but he seems to have made it worse.
What were the Packers thinking? You think Favre cares about the money? You think he sat at home for months and was missing the paychecks? He missed playing and competing in the sport he loves (he's currently practicing with a high school team, for crying-out-loud). If I were Favre, I would take that offer as a complete slap in the face.
Up until now, my opinion was split. I think Favre has the right to decide to come back, but the Packers have the right to do what they feel is best for the team. But trying to bribe the most prolific player in your franchise's history is simply classless. I hope Favre is traded to the Vikings and they trounce the Packers this year. Stick to directing movies, Opie.
