From an interview Pierce did in Spain recently:
Q: Is Kobe really the best player in the world?
Pierce: I donít think Kobe is the best player. Iím the best player. Thereís a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I donít cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself.
I guess it's a good thing to have confidence, but despite what Pierce (and Ryan Hudson, our own resident Boston fan) might think, it comes off as conceited. Pierce had a great season, and an even better playoffs, but sorry, he's not the best player in the NBA.
Spurs fans are rightly rolling their eyes about this, as are Lakers fans. As I imagine Cavs fans and Hornets fans are too.
