What To Watch: Weekend Edition

by Robbie Gillies

FRIDAY

7pm - ESPN2 - PGA: American Century Championship, First Round - Watch superstars be humbled by their horrible golf games (lookin' your way, Sir Charles). The list of celebrities includes Joe Buck, Jordan, Rick Reilly, and...Alfonso Ribeiro?

Non-sports pick - 8pm - TNT - Con Air - Nicholas Cage's wife is a waitress and when three belligerent customers assault the two of them, he accidentally kills one of them. He pleads guilty to manslaughter and gets the maximum sentence because he is classified as A DEADLY WEAPON, because of his military service. And that's the most realistic part of the movie. Awesome!

SATURDAY

8:30am - Versus - Tour de France: Stage 8 -

This connecting stage to the Pyrenees has no major difficulties. Some riders will use this stage to recover from the Massif Central stages, but others might try hard to seize a last chance at a stage win before the mountains. The sprinters should be on the ready approaching Toulouse.

1pm - ESPN - AFL: Cleveland Gladiators @ Philadelphia Soul - Eastern division rivals (??) square off in the playoffs.

3:30pm - ESPN - AFL: Grand Rapids Rampage @ San Jose SaberCats - SaberCats is awfully close to Thundercats...Saber! Saber! Saber! SaberCats! HOOOOO!

3pm - CBS - PGA: John Deere Classic, Third Round - Follow along with the leaderboard.

Non-sports pick - 8pm - ABC Family - Bring It On - The best performance of Kirsten Dunst's career.

SUNDAY

7:30am - Versus - Tour de France: Stage 9 - I really hope you either Tivo this or watch it when it re-airs at 8pm.

3pm - CBS - John Deere Classic, Final Round - Does the winner get to pull donuts in the parking lot on a tractor?

3pm - NBC - American Century Championship, Final Round - Aaron Rodgers plans to play, but there's a chance Brett Favre might take his spot.

4pm - ESPN - Women's Soccer: Brazil vs. US National Team - The women are 19-0-1 with just two games left before the Olympics.

6pm - ESPN2 - LPGA Tour: Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic, Final Round - Paula Creamer shot a 60 on Thursday, just missing Sorenstam's LPGA record of 59.

8pm - ESPN - Rockies @ Mets - The Mets are closing in on the Phillies and get to face Mark Redman on Sunday. Redman is just 2-4 with a 7.07 ERA, the second worst ERA among NL pitchers with a minimum of 40 innings.

Non-sports pick - 9pm - CBS - Miss Universe 2008 - Because you never know when this might happen:
