Redskins’ DE Jason Taylor is out this week for the game at Dallas due to calf surgery he had Monday morning. As it turns out, if Taylor didn't have this surgery, not only would he have missed this week’s game, he would have missed every game for the rest of time.
From Redskins Insider:
...at the time the emergency surgery was performed, he was told by doctors that with any further delay "you would be done forever." Taylor said at the time the surgery was performed he was told he could have lost his foot. Waiting beyond that could have produced even more dire results.
Taylor had
compartment syndrome which can be fatal if untreated with emergency surgery. Even after the procedure, Taylor is still set to miss anywhere from one week to several months.
