Mike Singletary Asked About His 'Mentor,' Who Is Dead

by Ryan Hudson

Believe it or not, new 49ers head coach Mike Singletary was involved in two memorable video clips yesterday. Of course, there was his tirade after the game, which is quickly making its way into the collection of all-time coaching blow-ups. Well, before that, he was interviewed by FOX sideline reporter Danyelle Sargent, and it did not go well.

In the area of fact-checking, I'd think "making sure the person in question is still alive" would be near the top of the list.

UPDATE: YouTube has pulled the video, but Sargent asked Singletary about his conversations with Bill Walsh, his "mentor," after he became the 49ers head coach. Two problems there: first, Singletary was a Chicago Bear, and Bill Walsh was a 49er, so, not sure how much of a mentor he was, and two, Bill Walsh died over a year ago. Apparently, the whole thing was never supposed to make air.
