What To Watch: Weekend Edition

by Robbie Gillies

FRIDAY

8pm - ESPN – NBA Preseason: Wizards at Cavaliers - It's a playoff preview as it seems inevitable these two teams will meet in the post season every year.

9pm - ESPN2 – NCAA Football: #12 Boise St at San Jose St - The winner will be the only team undefeated in WAC play. Boise State has been dominant on its way to a 6-0 record., outscoring opponents 195-63.

10:30pm – NBA Preseason: Thunder at Lakers - Kobe didn't play last night, but he might tonight.

Non-sports pick - 11pm - Comedy Central - Jim Gaffigan: Beyond The Pale - I've suggested this one before but there's not much else on a Friday night, plus, it's extremely funny.

SATURDAY

12pm - ESPN – NCAA Football: #8 Texas Tech at #23 Kansas - This is going to be fun. It will be quite the shootout between quarterbacks Harrell and Reesing: Texas Tech is number one in the nation in passing yards and Kansas is number six.

12pm - ESPN2 – NCAA Football: Illinois at Wisconsin - Both teams are having disappointing seasons. Wisconsin started 3-0 and has since lost its first four games against Big Ten opponents. After a Rose Bowl appearance last year, there were high hopes for Illinois, but they're just 2-2 in the Big Ten and need this win to stay above .500.

3:30pm - CBS – NCAA Football: #7 Georgia at #13 LSU - The loser can all but count themselves out of the national title hunt.

3:30pm – NCAA Football: ABC or ESPN - #6 Oklahoma State at #1 Texas - Alright, so I live in LA and currently it says I'm going to get UCLA-California. Somehow, I'm hoping this gets corrected.
OR UCLA at California
OR Virginia Tech at #25 Florida State
OR Michigan State at Michigan

7:45pm - ESPN – NCAA Football: #2 Alabama at Tennessee - The Volunteers are struggling, and playing against Alabama is not the way to right the ship. Take your last looks at Tennessee, Phil Fulmer

8pm - ESPN2 – NCAA Football: Notre Dame at Washington - Ty Willingham's goodbye tour stops by South Bend. This would be the ultimate revenge for Ty, but at 0-6 it's not likely.

8pm - ABC – NCAA Football: #3 Penn State at #9 Ohio State - The Nittany Lions look to snap a 10-game road losing streak to the Buckeyes and keep their hopes alive for a BCS Championship.

8pm - Fox - World Series Game 3: Rays at Phillies - The Rays average starting pitcher's age is something like 25. With Jamie Moyer in the Phillies rotation, the only way their average age could be 25 is if they're pulling their other pitchers from a Hannah Montana concert.

Non-sports pick - 8pm - TCM – Psycho - Get in the mood for Halloween with this classic and enjoy the music that Busta Rhymes sampled for his hit "Gimme Some More."

SUNDAY
1pm - CBS – NFL - Check your local listings.

1pm - Fox – NFL - Most of the nation is getting the Bucs at Cowboys, but it's a rainbow of colors on the East coast.

4pm - Fox - NFL - I'm sorry if you're getting Seahawks at 49ers over Giants at Steelers.

8pm - ESPN – NCAA Football: Central Florida at #19 Tulsa - Tulsa just entered the Top 25 for the first time since 1991, but are facing Central Florida, a team that beat them twice last season.

8pm - Fox - World Series Game 4: Rays at Phillies - The Rays’ Andy Sonnanstine goes up against the Phillies’ Joe Blanton. Both teams have won each of their post season starts and they've pitched very well for number-four starters.

Non-sports pick - 9pm - Fuse - Bio-Dome - Can you get enough of the Wiez? Doubtful.
