This is on the sports page of The Detroit News. Looks like the Lions are looking for a new logo. Maybe they think a new logo can turn this franchise around. A new logo won't erase the stench of 0-16, or not winning a playoff game in nearly two decades. A new logo won't help Dan Orlovsky's gaffe that will forever be on the highlight clip of the '08 Lions. But maybe it can give some hope to a depressed area right now.
If the government can help Detroit with their financial situation, we here at RCS can help them with their logo problem. Here are our suggestions for the new Detroit Lions logo:
Maybe the Lion just needs to be more recognizable, and what lion is better for that job than the cowardly lion from The Wizard of Oz?
"Put 'em up, put 'em up! Which one of you first? I can fight you both together if you want. I can fight you with one paw tied behind my back. I can fight you standing on one foot. I can fight you with my eyes closed. Oh, pull an axe on me, eh? Sneaking up on me, eh? Why, I'll... Ruff!"
Here's one if they want to be more family friendly. You don't want a scary lion on the helmet. They can start offering 4-pack tickets that come with free hot dog and drinks and they can implement the crowd being silent in the 4th quarter so the kids can have nap-time ... I guess they don't really have to implement that last bit, do they?
Get it? Get it? LION-el Ritchie?

Alright, alright. Maybe they need a whole new makeover and should abandon the entire Lion theme. We got a few that would fit quite well.
Don't remember the Detroit Drive? They played in the Arena Football League from 1988-1993. You can scoff at the Drive but they made the championship game every single year in the league. In 1993 they were sold and became the Massachusetts Marauders.
Since no AFL team will be playing this year, the name and logo are there for the taking. Detroit should embrace their most winning franchise ever and hope it can rub off on their NFL team.
We know how dire the economic situation is in Detroit. Why not save the fans some money and change the log to a brown paper bag? Since clearly, every Lions fan already has their brown bag ready.
Or maybe the players can start wearing them to hide their shame.
They should just change to the Cardinals logo to gain entrance to the Super Bowl. Hey, if Matt Millen can make it to the Super Bowl, why can't the rest of the former Lions? The rest of the Cardinals are probably still shocked and won't even notice.
