What to Watch: Weekend Edition

by Robbie Gillies

8pm ET - ESPN – NBA: Hornets at Cavs - The two players most likely to get triple-doubles face off as the Cavs look to avoid their first two game losing streak of the season.

8pm - ESPN2 - Homecoming with Rick Reilly - John Elway reveals his dream job would be to own an NFL franchise in Los Angeles. Now you don't have to watch it anymore.

10:30pm - ESPN – NBA: Lakers at Magic - The Lakers are extremely short-handed at the guard position. By short-handed I mean they basically only have two of them (not counting rookie Sun Yue who played just one minute vs. the Spurs). Combine that with the Magic's ability to hit the three's and this will be real tough test for the Lakers.

Non-sports pick - 10pm - SciFi Channel - Battlestar Galactica - It's back on the air and only nine episodes until it's conclusion.

12pm - ESPN – NCAA Basketball: #12 Notre Dame at #8 Syracuse - If the Irish shoot the way the Hoyas did against Syracuse, Kyle McAlarney will have a field day. Georgetown broke out of a shooting slump and hit 57% of their shots from distance and McAlarney has killed the Orange in the past.

1:30pm - CBS – NCAA Basketball: #13 Georgetown at #3 Duke -Pretty rare to have a huge non-conference game like this. It could definitely shift seeding come March.

2pm - ESPN - NCAA Basketball: #6 Oklahoma at Texas A&M - Don't sleep on the Aggies. They're 15-2 and coming off a win against #21 ranked Baylor.

2pm - ESPN2 - NCAA Basketball: #17 Butler at Ilinois-Chicago - The Bulldogs look to start 16-1 for the second straight season.

3:30pm - ABC - NCAA Basketball: #2 Wake Forest at #10 Clemson - Who would've thought these two teams would be in the Top 10? One of them will join Pitt as the only two undefeated teams in the country.

3:45pm - CBS - NCAA Basketball: #16 Arizona State at #9 UCLA - The Sun Devils are coming off a loss to USC. They probably don't deserve to be ranked.

4pm - ESPN - NCAA Basketball: Illinois at #7 Michigan State - MSU remains the lone unbeaten team in Big Ten play and is off to their best start in over 30 years.

6pm - ESPN - NCAA Basketball: #1 Pittsburgh at #20 Louisville - The Cardinals look for their third straight win against a ranked opponent while Pitt looks to remain undefeated.

9pm - ESPN2 - NCAA Basketball: #14 Marquette at Providence - Marquette tries to improve to 5-0 in the Big East.

9pm - ESPN - NCAA Basketball: #5 North Carolina at Miami - North Carolina has to win this just to get to .500 in ACC play.

11pm - ESPN2 - NCAA Basketball: Pacific at Cal State Fullerton - The Big West Conference is horrible. Don't have too much sympathy though: it's probably 80 degrees where they're playing this game.

Non-sports pick - 8pm - AMC - Terminator 3 followed by Terminator 2 - You think they put the third one first because of the whole time travel aspect?

3pm - Fox – NFC Championship: Eagles at Cardinals - The matchup to watch might be Asante Samuel against Larry Fitzgerald. Although, as good as Samuel is, he will probably need help.

6:30pm - CBS – AFC Championship: Ravens at Steelers - Joe Flacco returns to where he wasn't good enough to start in college. How's that workin’ out for you, Pitt?

Non-sports pick - 3:30pm - TNT - Wedding Crashers - Apparently, I need to see this movie again because "Erroneous! Erroneous! Erroneous on both counts!" didn't mean anything to me.
