The RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages combine seven* other sites' power rankings to make the most balanced and unbiased grade possible, and to offer the most accurate look at the state of the NHL on a weekly basis.
The Sharks are back at 1st in the RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages after spending a month in the 2nd and 3rd spots. Last week’s #1, the Devils, dropped down to 6th. As usual, movement and discrepancies are abundant in the NHL rankings.
A large number of teams are ranked at least four ranking spots higher by one site than any other: the Canucks are ranked 4th by SI, the Canadiens 11th by Fox, the Penguins 11th by TSN (probably the craziest of all the rankings as the Pens are still 4 points out of even being in the playoffs), the Ducks 12th by TSN, the Rangers 13th by Fox (after just two wins in their last 12 games), the Predators 16th by SI, and the Kings 17th by TSN.
One of the reasons for all the variations in the rankings is that every team in the Western Conference still has a somewhat realistic shot at making the playoffs. It should make for a great end to the season.
*AOL rankings were not released for the week at the time of publication.
