What to Watch: Weekend Edition

by Robbie Gillies

FRIDAY
7pm ET - ESPN – NBA: Pistons @ Magic - The Pistons have eliminated the Magic in the playoffs the past two seasons. But these Pistons are simply looking to snap an 8-game losing streak.

9:30pm - ESPN – NBA: Cavaliers @ Spurs - The Cavs will be shorthanded with Ben Wallace breaking his leg last night. The Spurs might be without Tim Duncan, who is day-to-day with "right quad tendonitis". Whatever that is.

Non-sports pick - 8pm - TCM - Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - An uplifting movie about a man that makes a difference in Washington. Hollywood, what will they dream up next??

SATURDAY
12pm - CBS – NCAA Basketball: Georgia Tech @ #4 North Carolina - The ACC-leading Tar Heels take on the basement dwelling Yellow Jackets.

12pm - ESPN - NCAA Basketball: Georgetown @ #10 Villanova - It's all about seeding in the Big East and NCAA Tournament for Villanova.

12pm - ESPN2 - NCAA Basketball: Cleveland State @ #24 Butler - Butler has already locked up the Horizon League.

2pm - CBS - NCAA Basketball: Notre Dame @ #2 Connecticut - If Notre Dame wins their last three Big East games they would have a great shot at making the tournament. But does anyone really think they can beat UConn, in Connecticut?

2pm - ESPN2 - NCAA Basketball: Illinois State @ Creighton - Creighton must win to take first in the Missouri Valley Conference.

3:30pm - ABC - NCAA Basketball: #7 Duke @ Virginia Tech - The Hokies are another team that can play their way into the tournament. But that requires beating Duke, followed by a win over North Carolina.

OR #3 Oklahoma @ Texas Tech - Not sure if Blake Griffin will play, but last time he faced Texas Tech he dropped 40 points and had 23 rebounds.

4pm - CBS - NCAA Basketball: #18 LSU @ Kentucky - LSU is the only team that has secured a tournament bid from the SEC. Kentucky COULD sneak in if they win their last three games.

4pm - ESPN - NCAA Basketball: Ohio State @ #16 Purdue - Purdue looks to bounce back after falling to Michigan on Thursday.

6pm - ESPN - NCAA Basketball: Texas @ Oklahoma State - Texas needs to continue building their tournament resume after a much needed win over Oklahoma last Saturday.

7:30pm - ESPN2 - NCAA Basketball: #17 Gonzaga @ San Diego - Gonzaga looks to stay perfect in conference play.

9pm - ESPN - NCAA Basketball: #22 UCLA @ California - UCLA is vulnerable, having lost three of their last five in a definite down year.

Non-sports pick - 10pm - AMC - Caddyshack OR on TCM - Rocky - Choose between two great sports movies or just flip back and forth.

SUNDAY
12pm - CBS - NCAA Basketball: #8 Marquette @ #6 Louisville - How will Marquette cope without their PG Dominic James?

1pm - ABC – NBA: Pistons @ Celtics - This might have garnered some interest last year but the only way this game will be interesting is if Marbury is on the Celtics by this point.

2pm - CBS - NCAA Basketball: #11 Missouri @ #15 Kansas - Kansas looks to exact revenge on the Tigers who beat them 62-60 on February 9th.

OR Tennessee @ Florida - Florida is on the bubble and Tennessee needs a miracle.

3:30pm - ABC – NBA: Lakers @ Suns - These two teams played Thursday...or should I say the Lakers played and the Suns watched.

4pm - CBS - NCAA Basketball: #9 Michigan State @ #20 Illinois - Illinois looks to even the season series but that will be a tough task against the Spartans, who are 7-1 on the road this season.
8pm - ESPN – NBA: Cavaliers @ Hawks - The Hawks are happy to be back in Atlanta. They just finished a six-game road trip on which they went 2-4.

Non-sports pick - 8pm - TNT - Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - If you really want to wreck your weekend, they're showing each of the movies at 8pm, Fri-Sun.
