If you’re even an average football fan, then you’re probably already looking forward to Saturday afternoon. Maybe you’ve had it circled on your calendar for months: April 25, 2009. The schedule has been cleared for weeks, the friends are invited and you already know what the snacks will be (hopefully guacamole is involved).
But this planning isn’t for any game, race or match. In fact, there won’t be any athletic movements at all (unless you count walking across the stage) – it’s the 2009 NFL Draft, and for many, it’s one of the biggest sporting days of the year, despite the fact there is no actual sport involved.
From the NFL Draft to Selection Sunday to the Heisman Trophy Presentation, there are numerous events on the sports calendar anxiously awaited by fans that don’t actually involve any sports. These are our Top 10 Non-Sports Sporting Events.
