What to Watch: Weekend Edition

by Robbie Gillies

FRIDAY

7pm ET - ESPN2 - MLS: Revolution @ DC United - Classic MLS rivalry...

7pm - Versus – NHL Playoffs: Flyers @ Penguins - The two teams continued their diverging paths from the regular season in Game 1. Penguins stayed hot and the Flyers kept stumbling. Can the Flyers get the split before heading back to Philly?

10pm - Versus – NHL Playoffs: Blues @ Canucks - Blues could only capitalize on one of seven power plays in Game 1.

Non-sports pick - 11:30pm - NBC - Tonight Show with Jay Leno - Charles Barkley will be on and I'm sure they'll be discussing the NBA playoffs, and probably his golf swing.

SATURDAY
12:30pm - ABC – NBA Playoffs: Bulls @ Celtics - No KG, but remember Celtics fans, "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!"

1pm - ESPN2 - Tennis: Family Circle Cup, Semifinal - Let's hope it's not as boring as Family Circus. Those comics are so lame.

1pm - NBC – NHL Playoffs: Rangers @ Capitals - The Rangers look to steal two in DC from the Caps.

3:30pm - Fox – MLB: Indians @ Yankees
OR Cardinals @ Cubs
OR Angels @ Twins

3:30pm - ABC – NBA Playoffs: Pistons @ Cavs - This would've been intriguing the last couple years, but not now. Cavs should roll through the Pistons.

8pm - Fox - NASCAR: Subway Fresh Fit 500 - Check out the participants.

8pm - ESPN – NBA Playoffs: Mavericks @ Spurs - Without Manu, and Duncan not being 100%, Mavs can definitely win this series.

8pm - Versus – NHL Playoffs: Canadiens @ Bruins - Bruins took the first game 4-2.

8pm - ESPN2 – High School Basketball: Jordan Brand Classic - The talent in this game might be better than the McDonald's All-Americans.

10:30pm - ESPN – NBA Playoffs: Rockets @ Blazers - Seems like the most intriguing matchup in the first round.

Non-sports pick - NERD ALERT!! Uh-oh. You have two choices: 1. Star Wars: A New Hope at 4pm on Spike OR Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers at 3pm on TNT. What kind of nerd are you?

SUNDAY
1pm - ESPN – NCAA Softball: Texas A&M @ Oklahoma - Don't worry, there are two other options at 1pm.

1pm - NBC - Champions Tour: Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am, Dinal Round - Check out the leaderboard.

1pm - TBS – MLB: Indians @ Yankees - I'm sure Yankee fans will welcome Carl Pavano back with open arms.

1pm - ESPN2 - Tennis: Family Circle Cup, Finals - The #2 seed Venus Williams was knocked out in the third round. That should make the path for #1 seed Elena Dementieva relatively easy.

3pm - ABC – NBA Playoffs: Jazz @ Lakers - The Jazz need to find a way to limit the Lakers inside presence.

3pm - NBC – NHL Playoffs: Penguins @ Flyers - Game 3.

5:30pm - TNT – NBA Playoffs: 76ers @ Magic - The Magic stumbled down the stretch but should be able to take care of the 76ers.

7pm - Versus – NHL Playoffs: Canucks @ Blues - Game 3.

8pm - ESPN – MLB: Cardinals @ Cubs - The Cubs’ Ted Lilly looks to improve to 3-0.

8pm - TNT – NBA Playoffs: Heat @ Hawks - Most intriguing of the Eastern Conference matchups.

10pm - Versus – NHL Playoffs: Ducks @ Sharks - Can the Sharks regroup and even the series up after a 2-0 loss?

10:30pm - TNT – NBA Playoffs: Hornets @ Nuggets - Chris Paul is phenomenal but the Hornets will need others to emerge in order to take down the Nuggets.

Non-sports pick - 9pm - FX - Snakes on a Plane - Because we now know - it can actually happen!
