In the past couple weeks, hundreds of thousands of college seniors graduated and in just a few short months, even more freshmen will invade those college campuses. Most of those students were accepted and made their decision to attend their college of choice months ago. But some students take a little bit more time, and a whole lot more publicity, to make their decision.
John Wall, who most regard as the top basketball recruit in the nation, has been taking his sweet time in deciding where he will play ball next year. Well according to SLAM Online he has finally made his choice:
Sources tell SLAM that John Wall, the nation’s top high school point guard, committed to the University of Kentucky tonight. Wall picked Kentucky over Duke, Miami and Florida, among other schools. The 6-4 senior from Word of God in Raleigh, N.C., is viewed as the missing piece for new Wildcats coach John Calipari.
Wondering how good Wall is? Take a look at one of his many highlight reels on YouTube.
The guy is lightning quick, can create for his teammates, and has amazing ball control. He is easily compared to Derrick Rose, who led Calipari's Memphis Tigers to the 2008 Championship game.
With Kentucky's talent this year, Calipari has a good chance to win it all in his first year on the job. In addition to Wall, Calipari will have four other top-50 recruits in DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, Daniel Orton and Jon Hood. But Kentucky has more than just young talent with potential. Kentucky also returns Patrick Patterson (who withdrew from the NBA Draft) and there's a good chance Jodie Meeks also withdraws from the draft to return for another year.
You think anyone in Kentucky is missing Billy Gillispie now?
