200 Miles From the Citi

nyj_jax.JPGThe talk around the Jets is how talented they are and how consistent play from their quarterback could get them into the playoffs.

If they're going to start talking playoffs, how the heck am I not supposed to get caught up in that?

Oh, how quickly I'm willing to forget the half-season before the bye week once I hear Rex Ryan start talking his team up again.

We've already established that the Jets have a tough schedule the rest of the way.  But the report is that Mark Sanchez spent the bye week studying his mistakes....and his improvement is the key to the second half.

All I ask is that Sanchez learns from his mistakes...and now I'm hoping that he's a quick learner.

The problem for the Jets is that they wasted their three division games in that first half of the season against the Bills and Dolphins....their only win in the division came against the Patriots.  It's hard to think that they will beat New England again...but that game could be the tell-tale game the rest of the way:

If the Jets beat the Patriots again, I'll keep them alive for the playoffs.  If they lose that game, I'll write them off.

That makes games against teams like the Jaguars must-win games.

Which is how the Jets are approaching this week.

I'm excited.

I don't know why I do this to myself.
