Didn't have a great week with my picks last week...but that never stops me from a return engagement.
Here are my picks in the Divisional Round (unintentional magic number is 24).
CARDINALS AT SAINTS
This game will go exactly as you expect offensively. I'm not buying that the Saints went cold at the wrong time - they'll come out flinging the ball around again, and if the Packers had a huge day against this Cardinals defense, so will the Saints. And remember, all season the Saints have had a pretty solid defense. They'll win this one pretty easily, I think:
RAVENS AT COLTS
Listen, I would love to see the Ravens win this game. I'll be rooting for them. But this is a pick with my head, not my heart. Statistics show that 3 of the 4 home teams are going to win this weekend, and I've got my heart set on the Jets being that one in four chance. Maybe the trend will be bucked this year, and two or more road teams will advance, but I'm not too sure. I'll take the Colts in a suprisingly not close game:
COWBOYS AT VIKINGS
Which one makes you more sick - the Cowboys one win from the Super Bowl or Brett Favre one win from the Super Bowl? One of those situations will play out after this game. If the Vikings had to play in the first round, I don't think they're alive in this week, or at least I don't think they'd advance past this week. But here they are, playing their first playoff game...I think they can beat the Cowboys with all of that considered. And just because of last year's collapse, even though I'm picking Minnesota, I'm rooting against Brett Favre:
JETS AT CHARGERS
I can't not pick them now. It'll be tight, at least - the spread is 7.5, and that seems like a gimme for the Jets. They have a realistic shot at winning this game - and the key, key, key is getting ahead. If they get on the board first and get a couple of stops on San Diego, the Chargers will lose hope. That lack of confidence out of San Diego is all the Jets need to get a lead early....then hold off the late comeback try:
