Time For The NFL Previews

It's August.

And August always brings mixed emotions for me.

I start looking so forward to football season, especially in seasons when the Jets have such high expectations, but I also know the clock is ticking on my summer vacation.

Well, we're going to take it nice and slow and ease into the football season here at '200 Miles From The Citi' with a day-by-day preview of the 2010 NFL season.

Here are the rules and regulations.

-I've decided to go team-by-team, in part due to my excitement about the upcoming season.  I feel like I have a lot to say, so I'll put something out there about each team.

-I'll publish the previews each afternoon, in reverse order of how good I predict the teams to be.  In other words, in draft format.  I won't do extensive tiebreaking, so if I have similar records, I'll just pick the next team randomly.

-This sounds like a total cop out, but I need to say it:  When I pick teams' records, you need to give me a +/- 2 margin of error or something.  Here's what happens: As I go through and form opinions on who is or isn't a good team, I tend to exaggerate those traits in my mind.  So a good team becomes an extraordinarily good team, like 15-1.  And a bad team might end up going 0-16.  I, like you, doubt those picks will be accurate...but 13-3 and 2-14 aren't out of the realm of possibility, and aren't all that far from my actual pick.  So understand the way my mind works, and understand my picks.  In the end, I'm hoping I nail the division winners and wild cards....and I'm hoping I'm not way off base in what I write about each team.

(And if you're one of those people who hates people who go through and predict wins and losses before the season...Move on.  Don't ruin my fun.)

-We'll get started Sunday afternoon, and go straight through for 32 days.  Then, believe it or not, it's football season.

And school starts.
