Peppers Signs With Panthers

Defensive end Julius Peppers signed a one-year, $16.683 million franchise tender with Carolina today, ending the contract stalemate between the Panthers and their disgruntled superstar.

Great news for Carolina fans and the Panthers, who need the superstar defensive lineman in the lineup to make a successful defense of their NFC South Championship.

A four-time Pro Bowl starter and a first-team All-Pro selection in 2004, Peppers is Carolina's all-time leader in sacks (70.5), forced fumbles (24), and blocked kicks (8).

Peppers started all 16 games for the fifth time in his career in 2008, making 64 tackles and leading the Panthers in sacks (14.5) and forced fumbles (5).
