Cats Return To Practice, Deal With Injuries

The Panthers enjoyed a rare day off on Sunday following Saturday night's 27-17 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins, but returned to the practice field today at Bank of America Stadium to get ready for this week's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens and continue preparing for the upcoming season.

Injuries sustained by star middle linebacker Jon Beason and starting free safety Charles Godfrey in Saturday night's game against the Dolphins are of more immediate concern, however, to the already injury-riddled Panthers.

Beason sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee and will be out at least two weeks, putting his availability for the season-opening game with the Philadelphia Eagles in jeopardy, while Godfrey has undergone surgery for a broken right hand and will be out indefinitely.

The injuries are further blows to a Panthers' defense already depleted by injuries to linebacker Thomas Davis and defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu, who suffered a season-ending torn achilles tendon on the opening day of training camp.

Carolina's offense has been effected by injuries as well, with star wide receiver Steve Smith and running back Jonathan Stewart yet to appear in a preseason game.

Stay tuned Panthers' fans....
