Training Camp Opens; Kemoeatu, Beason Injured

Just minutes into the first practice of their 2009 training camp, the Panthers had two key members of their defense go down with injuries as defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu suffered an apparent ankle, foot, or heel injury and linebacker Jon Beason tweaked his hamstring.

Kemoeatu went down while running and was carted off the field, while Beason injured his left hamstring and watched the remainder of the practice session with his leg wrapped.

Both players will be evaluated by Carolina's medical staff this afternoon.

With the exception of the injuries to Kemoeatu and Beason, the Panthers looked great in their first practice.  All 80 players on the roster are in camp and in great shape.

2009 should be another great year for the Cats!
