The Cincinnati Bengals announced that they have inked free agent running back Cedric Benson. Details of the contract are unknown at this time.

I don't understand this move at all. Benson was recently cleared of two separate charges regarding boating and driving while intoxicated. He'll learn how to commit crimes AND get the charges to stick while a member of the Bengals. I see a PSA in his future!

Benson is generally regarded as one of the bigger busts in draft history after the Chicago Bears selected him with the 4th overall pick out of Texas in 2005. He was expected to be the same bruiser he was in college but only went on to bruise his image.

The signing was due in large part to DeDe Dorsey being placed in IR.

Interesting from the Bengals press release:

Despite missing the last five games with an ankle injury last season, he posted career highs with 674 yards, 17 catches, and 123 receiving yards.

Umm...despite what? Is that supposed to impress us? Benson is simply not a good NFL player. [Pictured Right: We know you're not Ricky. He smokes pot. You like booze.]
