Fantasy Baseball Week 11 Start/Sit

jason hammel.jpgIt has been an exciting week in baseball, and after Stephen Strasburg's 14-strikeout victory against the Pirates, things are looking up for fantasy owners. We will be seeing the arrivals of many more youngsters over the course of the next few weeks, so let's see what Week 11 has in store.


Starting Pitcher to Start

All of the attention in Colorado has been focused on the dazzling performances of ace Ubaldo Jimenez; however, another Rockies starter is beginning to receive some attention around the fantasy world. Since returning from the disabled list on May 15, starter Jason Hammel has been astounding, going 3-1 and allowing three or fewer runs in four of those five starts. In 33 innings since his return, he has recorded 29 Ks, adding up to a total of 42 on the year.

If his recent performance is any indication of his returning to his 2009 form (10-8, 4.45 ERA in 30 starts), then we are looking at good things to come for fantasy owners. His start in Week 11 appears to be against Milwaukee on June 18, so I'd slip him into the rotation for that outing...
