Best case scenario, it is a free league; worst case scenario, you are still wondering who is available for Week 15? You are just in luck, because this week has potential stars.
Starting Pitchers in Focus: Jair Jurrjens
After being on the disable list for over a month, Jurrjens has pitched well in his last two starts. In 11 innings pitch, he has allowed four runs, ten strikeouts and only eight hits. Only owned in 60% of ESPN leagues, Fantasy owners should put in a claim for the young star.
The left-hander has done very well, over his last three starts. In those three starts, he is 3-0 and has lowered his ERA from 5.64 to 5.00. Over that span, he has 19 hitters in 20 innings pitched. Owned in 47% of ESPN leagues, Fantasy owners looking for immediate help, should consider adding him.
Position Players: Infielders:
After having a career year in 2009, 1B Russell Branyan could not find a home. He settled on a one-year deal with the Indians and was recently traded to the Mariners. Since the start of June, he has seven home runs and 20 RBI. His OPS in June was .877 and has scored 17 runs over that stretched. Only owned in 11% of ESPN leagues, Branyan will definitely get more at-bats and could put up similar numbers up from last year.
Coming over from the trade that sent P Scott Kazmir to the Los Angeles Angels 2B, OF Sean Rodriguez had found his stroke in June. He hit .295, with four home runs and 17 RBI. Rodriguez scored 13 runs and stole six bases in seven attempts. Currently only owned in 38% of ESPN leagues, Rodriguez is a must grab in mixed leagues for Week 15.
Position Players: Outfielders:
After having a breakout year in 2009, expectations were high OF Jason Kubel in 2010. He finished June on a tear. He hit .316, with four home runs and 13 RBI. He had an OPS of .893 and scored ten runs. Owned in 65% of ESPN leagues, Kubel is a must grab in Week 15.
A former first round pick, OF Drew Stubbs is having a great start to July. After hitting three home runs on July 4th, Stubbs has been starting to get regular at-bat in Cincinnati. Having hit in eight of his last ten games, during that stretch, he has four home runs, 12 RBI and nine runs scored. Owned in only 27% of ESPN leagues and 47% of CBS Sportsline leagues, he is a recommended pick up for Week 15.
After RP Trevor Hoffman was relieved from his duty as closer, Axford was the logical choice to replace him. He ended May with an ERA of 1.48 and had two saves in two chances. Since the start of June, he has saved seven games in seven opportunities. He is a No. 2 closer option with the potential to rise.
