Cameron Looking to be the Center of Attention
The Mets are going to have to determine what they want to do with the center-field situation. As we know, Carlos Beltran is not a better center-fielder than Mike Cameron. He is good though. Cameron plays so well in center but he even plays better in RF. Do the Mets decide to make the switch with the two, or is it more likely that Cameron gets traded. Personally. I don't want him to be traded. Cameron is a very talented player. We saw what he was able to do offensively his first year. His second, he was getting on base at such a frequent rate that he was batted in the 2 spot for most of the season.
Cameron is more than just an asset to the Mets with his bat and glove. He gets this team motivated every day to play their hardest while staying lose and having fun. He is someone that the Mets should seriously consider keeping more more than just this year.
Not only are his numbers comparable to Alfonso Soriano with far better defense, but his on-base percentage and batting average are far superior to Soriano's come the second half of the year. AKA, when the team needs it most.
I would not be opposed to the Mets re-signing Cameron to an extension. He is a top class player and individual and should be rewarded as such.
