This is one of the few games I have gotten to see this season, and from what I saw of Mets pitching prospect Brian Bannister I liked alot. He only gave up 2 runs, if only the Mets could have mustered up some offense.
One would think that guys like LoDuca, Delgado and Floyd could have gotten something against 22 year old Marlins rookie Scott Olson. However it is only spring training.
Pedro Feliciano looked good in relief however Jorge Julio stunk on ice, why the Mets like to get pitchers from Baltimore is beyond me. They all seem to have an ERA about 5.00-and I doubt much will change for Julio in NY from what I saw today.
Just as Delgado did nothing for the Mets except a single offensively, former Met Mike Jacobs hurt them badly with a 2 run homerun. I am still haunted by letting this guy get away. Even is Delgado has a great year for the Mets in 2006, I don't think it's worth mortgaging the future for one or two good years.
With 2 weeks to go before the season I am hoping that the new Mets TV Network-SNY will finalize a deal with Direct-TV. I can't imagine going a season with only being about to see 2 games a week on Channel 11.
