Inside Mr. Met's Head

June 8, 2007 5:26 PM

Sosa Is The Stopper Mets 3 - Tigers 0

Inter-league play gets back underway for the Mets tonight and they looked to the surprise starter of 2007, Jorge Sosa to stop the skid-and stop it he did.

This turned into a back end of the rotation pitchers duel between Chad Durbin of the Tigers and Sosa. It was a scoreless affair thanks to some fine defense by Carlos Gomez in the outfield, until David Wright got to double digits in home runs giving Sosa and the Mets a 1-0 lead. Carlos Delgado then later added his 10th blast of the season and Sosa was cruising along into the 8th inning. The Mets added another run thanks to the blinding speed of Carlos Gomez who got on base via an infield hit and tagged up from third on a sac fly by Delgado.

Billy Wagner came in and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, getting right back on the horse after blowing the game last night.

Tomorrow Oliver Perez faces Bonderman for the Tigers.
