What Round Will Best Get Selected?

pac10-08-icon-cal.gifJahvid Best had the best 40 time of all the RB's at the 2010 NFL Combine. Best ran a 4.35 and # 1 rated RB C.J. Spiller ran a 4.37 40. For a RB to get selected in the first round of the NFL Draft they have to be viewed as an every down back. Spiller had 216 rushing attempts last season and finished his four-year career with 606 carries. In three seasons Best had a total of 364 carries. One of the concerns that NFL teams will have about Jahvid will be about his durability.

CJ should be the first RB off the board and Ryan Mathews from Fresno State could be the 2nd RB to go in the 2010 NFL Draft. Last year Ryan finished the year with 1,808 yards on the ground and he had 276 rushing attempts in 2009. NFL teams will be confident that Mathews will have the ability to handle a heavy workload. If Best is not chosen in round one of the NFL Draft he will not get past the second round. Jahvid will probably be used as a change of pace back on a team that has a between the tackles type of a RB. Some of the teams that Best would be a good fit for are the St. Louis Rams, 49ERS, Detroit Lions, Bengals, Browns and Chiefs. Best has the ability to break long runs and he can be used on kickoff returns. Best should make an immediate impact on any team that has a two back system.
