ASU Falls Short Again

Stanford got by the Sun Devils 17-13. Going into the 4th quarter ASU held a 13-10 lead over the Cardinal. MLB Vontaze Burfict was flagged twice on the same play. The first penalty was a facemask and the second penalty was for complaining about the facemask penalty. ASU now has a record of 4-6 and they have UCLA and Arizona left on their schedule. If ASU can win their last two games they will finish the season 6-6 and go to a Bowl game. The penalties and turnovers that have plagued them all season would have to disappear and that might be asking too much of the Sun Devils to play two disciplined games in a row.

Stanford came into this game averaging more than 39 points per game and ASU did a good job defensively and held the Cardinal to 17 points. With that type of effort the Sun Devils should have won this football game. ASU finished the game with a good balance between rushing yards and passing yards. RB Cameron Marshall had 12 carries for 94 yards. The Sun Devils finished the game with 158 passing yards and 110 yards on the ground against a solid Stanford defense. It would not be a shock if ASU wins their last two games and it would not surprise me if they dropped the last two games of the season.
