Last season Stanford finished the season with an 8-5 record under Jim Harbaugh. Stanford lost 31-27 to Oklahoma in the Sun Bowl without Andrew Luck under center. One season later, the Cardinal are 11-1 and waiting to find out if they are headed to the Fiesta or Orange Bowl. Stanford is headed to back-to-back Bowl games for the first time since the 95-96 seasons when they went to the Liberty and Sun Bowl. The Cardinal lost 19-13 to East Carolina in the Liberty Bowl and beat Michigan State 38-0 in the Sun Bowl. This will be the first BCS game Stanford has played in since the 1999 Rose Bowl. With Oregon and Stanford slated to participate in BCS games this season it will be the first time since 2002 that the Pac-10 has sent two teams to the BCS. USC defeated Iowa 38-17 in the Orange Bowl and Washington State lost 34-14 to Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl. #4 Stanford is one of the top teams in the nation and will bring a Heisman Trophy candidate in Andrew Luck and one of the best and sought after coaches in the country in Jim Harbaugh to a BCS game.
