Trojans And Cardinal Collide

The USC Trojans vs. the Stanford Cardinal game on Saturday will have a big effect on both of these programs. Stanford is currently #6 in the BCS Standings with Clemson, Boise State, Oklahoma State, Alabama and LSU ahead of them. The Cardinal must win their upcoming games against USC, Oregon and Notre Dame in order to move up in the BCS Standings. The Trojans are 6-1 and will be tested against Stanford, Washington and Oregon in their remaining games. If USC can finish the season strong it will give the program tremendous momentum for the 2012 season when they will be eligible for a Bowl game.

The Trojans have the 2nd best defense in the Pac-12 against the run. The USC defense will need to be stout when they line up against the Stanford offense on Saturday. Stanford has a strong running game. They average 219.4 yards per game on the ground. Last week against the Washington Huskies the Cardinal ran for 446 yards. If the Trojans slow down Stanford's running game they will be forcing the best QB in college football to throw the ball. Andrew Luck has 20 TD's and only three interceptions this season. USC QB Matt Barkley is probably the 2nd best QB in the country and he has 19 TD's and only 4 interceptions. USC also has one of the best WR's in the country in Robert Woods. In seven games Woods already has 72 catches for 902 yards and 8 TD's. This game will display two explosive offenses and the team that gets the best performance at QB will probably win the game.
